My husband’s garden

Posted by on July 22, 2013

Many people have fabulous gardens. But few put their heart and soul into their yard.  My husband Bain is one of those people.  He’s always doing a little something.  You can often find him transplanting a tree, mowing the yard, and trimming a hedge well into the dark many nights.

When we moved into our house three years ago this month, much of our yard was over grown and hadn’t been taken care of for a long time.  Bain has slowly started He finds great peace when he is outside in our yard.  Here are some pictures of his work.

This is in the front of our yard, Bain just planted the creeping jenny (Lysimachia nummularia) a little over a year a go and it has really taken off.  It feels like carpet on your feet, it is so full.

When we moved here our pond didn’t work. So Bain first had it fixed and then has had to constantly tinker with it so it doesn’t loose too much water and work in general.
he has added all of the shrubs around it,
built the stone wall and stone path around the pond.

I love hydrangeas and Bain has planted and there were all different varieties.
All the paths had to be dug up and re laid.  He did it all himself.  Each piece of stone is placed with care and thought.  I’m very biased but I believe the path is beautifully done.

Bain’s garden is always amazing from Spring through the Fall, he has ground covers that keep flourishing, shrubs and flowers that bloom differently though out the seasons, and trees that canopy our garden all under his green thumb.
The boys and I are the daily proud recipients of all Bain’s hard work!
Dashing – xoxo
