Dashing Fav… Amy Lawson and her blog The Laws on Dinner
I met Amy Lawson last year when she and I attended the same bible study and our children attend the same schools. She is very kind, thoughtful, and dear. I was so excited to see that she had started a blog about dinnertime. The Laws on Dinner blog is a realistic take on what it takes to get dinner to our family table. She is funny, sensible, and practical in her directions and round up. I asked her if she wouldn’t mind me asking her a few questions and she was nice enough to answer them.
Dashing through WS (D): Why did you start the blog:
Amy Lawson (AL): I love cooking, I love helping people, and I love a good plan. I didn’t really realize that what I was doing was anything different from what anyone else was doing, but after a call from a friend asking me to start this blog, my sister calling me multiple nights a week for meal ideas for the past few years, and several friends asking me to share my meal plans for the week with them, I decided to bite the bullet and see what happens. Hopefully this blog can be a vessel to help people find the joy in cooking rather than it feeling like a chore or something that just has to be done.

D: What would be one tip you’d give other moms trying to organize their dinners?
AL: Look at your week as a whole when you’re planning on what to make and how many meals to cook for the week, and make ONE trip to the grocery store.

D: I loved how the kids got to pick what they wanted to eat while your husband was away, which of their meals was your favorite to make?
AL: I always love making macaroni and cheese because it reminds me of my sister and my grandmother.
D: What is your favorite thing to make?
AL: Stetson Salad from Cowboy Ciao in Scottsdale, AZ. I will share this one soon. It is a beautiful presentation, and I think it makes people feel special when I make it for them.
D: What would you like people to know about your blog?
AL: This is just me being me, sharing some recipes that I know are yummy and some ideas that will hopefully boost people’s confidence in knowing that it’s possible to make delicious food for themselves, their families, or their friends without running themselves ragged in the process
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! to Amy for sharing such wonderful tips to all of us who are constantly trying to figure out what is for dinner. I enjoyed getting to chat with you this morning so much 🙂 If you haven’t been to her site yet… stop by www.thelawsondinner.blogspot.com .
