I love to look at real estate from all over the globe. My favorite website to peruse is Curbed. I look at their national site, but if you lived in a large city they have sites specific to your home town, such as NYC or San Fran.
One of their popular features is House of the Day. Curbed chooses a house from all over the country that can be swoon and cringe worthy. I relish in how the writers give your “the skinny” it can be good, bad, or ugly. Here are some of the great quips.
“this mansion is the architectural equivalent of high-waisted acid wash jeans with an electric blue skypager clipped to the belt.”
“the home recently benefitted from a much-needed redo during the Designer Showhouse of Westchester charity event, which thoroughly de-frumped the place”
OK — here is one from our neck of the woods…
“Many horned creatures of the wood died to bring you this home in exurban Charlotte, N.C., whose walls are festooned with disturbing displays—and that’s just the cringe-worthy color palette.”
Please don’t get me wrong, there are many homes that the writer sings with praise about but I thought you’d get a chuckle out of these. Curbed also gives a quick history of the home, which can be fascinating. So if you have an extra few minutes to kill… discover Curbed and check out House of the Day.
