Did I mention it was raining when we were in DC?? Oh yeah it was raining. Bain and I made the executive decision that the zoo would be a horrible choice. So after the Natural History Museum we stopped in at a pub (because that is what all responsible parents do to get out of the rain… :)) regrouped and then we were off to the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum.
This is Bain and Rand’s selfie of how wet we were… Nothing a little Mac and cheese and brownie with ice cream didn’t make all better!
What a treat. The boys were reenergized as we walked into the hall of planes, space rockets, and missiles. ALL of the BOYS!!
This is the Spirit of St. Louis… Been with the Smithsonian since 1928.

Our only full family picture… in front of the real Wright Brothers plane.
I can’t put into words how much my boys loved going to the National Air and Space Museum. We got to go into cockpits, go through space stations, and see huge missiles from the cold war. It was really a dream come true for my little men.
We were done around 6:15 and had dinner reservations at 6:45. I had gotten two recommendations to take the boys to Hill’s Country Barbecue. We went. It was perfect for two boys who needed to eat. Please note it was Texas style, so don’t write me upset if you were hoping for Eastern NC Style BBQ. Great for a mom and dad who needed some good food to end the day.
The trip to Washington, DC was the best trip we’ve ever taken. I had so much fun. I loved being with all three boys so much. BEST TRIP EVER.
