Dining with Daphne … Silo
The day was gorgeous and we sat outside, under the big umbrellas and along the iconic Reynolda stone walls.
The waitress was friendly and when we commented on tea, she recommended the camille and mint which is what I had. Daphne had the sweet tea. I was skeptical about how it would taste. It was refreshing and I really enjoyed it.
Daphne had the Hummus and Quinoa Salad. When I asked her about her meal she replied, “The hummus was fantastic. I would order it 100 times. The quinoa salad was good, but very bland. ” I have to agree with Daphne. They used to have this mint cous cous salad that I adored. They took it off and replaced it with this salad. I had the salad as well. I miss the cous cous option. I know quinoa is better for me but it is a bland substitute for the mint cous cous.
My meal — El Monte Cristo with quinoa
I’m not going to lie, The El Monte Cristo is one of my favorite sandwiches. It is a little different because it is Spanish Serrano which is dried cured ham. Think prosciutto but from Spain. (but its different… sorry not really helpful!) manchego cheese, and blackberry jam. The jam is delicious and the combo is amazing. I can taste it right now with the ciabatta bread that almost scratches your mouth (but in a good way). It’s a great sandwich.
When I asked Daphne what she would tell people about Silo she said, “I loved the ambiance. It has great outdoor seating and Reynolda Village has a charm like no other. I would recommend this to friends. It would be a great girls lunch. It has great sandwiches and salads.” I agree with Daphne 100%. There were lots of gals (and guys) have lunch together and everyone seemed to be having a fabulous time.
I have been to Silo for many dinner meetings and everyone always seems to eat off each others plates or everyone gets some of their yummy apps to share. They also have a great wine, beer, and champagne list. If the weather isn’t great there is plenty of seating inside as well so don’t let a few rain drops scare you from going to the restaurant. We enjoyed our lunch there and hope you will too!
