Daphne and I have been saving Mozelle’s Fresh Southern Bisto for a special occasion. The holiday edition of Dining with Daphne seemed like a great reason. Located at 878 West Fourth Street, Mozelle’s is owned by Jennifer Manner, who since 2008 has made it the place to go for a fabulous lunch or great dinner date in downtown Winston-Salem.
We started off with the fried pickles. They were AMAZING! They are lightly fried and cut into thin pieces. It is coupled with a spicy ranch… we kept commenting about how good it was.
Daphne had the special soup, Rosemary and Chicken Noodle. She also had the Fried Goat Cheese salad.

“It (the Rosemary and Chicken Noodle Soup) was wonderful. The rosemary gave it an special touch. I also had the Fried Goat Cheese Salad, Love it!!! It had a homemade champagne vinaigrette dressing that is light and adds a lot to salad. I love the cranberries and pecans on it and the fried goat cheese is awesome.”
I had my favorite meal at Mozelle’s the Gourmet Meatloaf.
It was amazing!! I love this meal. The meatloaf is delicious. Do not overlook the sides. The spicy collards and cheese grits are special. The collards have an amazing flavor. The cheese grits are cooked perfectly. The meal makes my mouth water just thinking about it. Yum!!
I also asked Daphne about the atmosphere:
“It is small and quaint! I love you can see the kitchen from the main area. It has great outdoor sitting. The blankets on the back of the chairs are a nice touch!”
