Getting Ready for Back to School
I don’t know about your family but mine is not ready for school. In June when school ended my oldest dropped his backpack and hasn’t looked back since. So a couple of weeks ago, I got a few workbooks and he is easing himself back into the idea of school work. We just do thirty minutes a day but he isn’t fighting me anymore and he seems to be making progress. Anyway, I thought I’d share the workbooks that I like. Kumon Workbooks are a wonderful tool. In the front there are guidelines for parents explaining the purpose of the book and also how best to use it. In other cities there are Kumon learning centers that these workbooks are created from. They have long been my favorite. The other set of workbooks that I bought were the Harcourt Family Learning Flash Kids workbooks. These workbooks have the answers in the back, and were structured nicely for easing back into school work. It started with review and then went on to new ideas. They say that kids can loose up to two months of education during the summer. I’m not saying that this will help entirely but hopefully my boys will have the cobwebs blown out by the time school roles around!
What do you do to get your child ready for school? Do you have another workbook that I haven’t mentioned? Tell me, I’d love to know.
