Great Reads for the kiddos in your life

Posted by on September 3, 2013

We are all always looking for some fabu reads with our kids.  As much as I love the classics it is fun to find some new books that are interesting to the kids that you may not have read yet.  Here are a few that I have found.

Roscoe Riley Rules

This series from author Katherine Applegate.  Follow the adventures of life for first grader Roscoe and his many missteps through school and life.  He has great uses for glue and also dealing with a bully.  Such a cute series with short chapters and sentences, perfect for your young reader.  There are seven books in this series so you will enjoy these happy and poignant stories with your child.

A Dodsworth Book

Every year we decide far away places we want to travel to.  This past school year we went to Chicago and Atlanta.  On the docket for this year is Washington, D.C. and New York City.  A great way for us to go different places from Nelson’s bed is the A Dodsworth Books.   Written by Tim Egan, these books take Dodsworth and his duck around the world to such places as London, Rome, and Toyko. Focal points of the city are highlighted such as double-decker buses, the Sistine Chapel, and Mount Fuji.

OK … to be fair we haven’t read these books and your about to find out why.

Bink and Gollie

From Amazon:

All righty, then! Celebrate the tall and short of a marvelous friendship with a new Bink and Gollie adventure.

Gollie is quite sure she has royal blood in her veins, but can Bink survive her friend’s queenly airs — especially if pancakes are not part of the deal? Bink wonders what it would be like to be as tall as her friend, but how far will she stretch her luck to find out? And when Bink and Gollie long to get their picture into a book of record holders, where will they find the kudos they seek? Slapstick and sweetness, drollery and delight abound in this follow-up to the Geisel Award–winning, New York TimesBest Illustrated Children’s Book Bink and Gollie, written by the beloved and best-selling Kate DiCamillo and Alison McGhee and brought to hilarious life by Tony Fucile.

How cute do these books sound??  I think they sound so fun and girl empowering that I had to add them to the list.  LOVE it!!  Cute, Cute, Cute!!!

Reading with my kids is one of the best times of night (or day) for me.  I love hanging out with them and the sweet moments as we snuggle together reading.  Happy Happy School year!!
