Join me THIS SATURDAY for Beyond the Gate — Garden Tour

Have you seen the Beyond the Gate Garden Tour signs popping up around your neighborhood?  The Garden Club Council of Winston-Salem/Forsyth County is holding its first ever Garden Tour.  This first ever not to be missed event will take you into some of the amazing gardens right here in Winston-Salem.

The Beyond the Gate Garden Tour and English Afternoon Tea are this Saturday, April 30th.  There are nine gardens on the tour, at least half located in Buena Vista and Sherwood Forest, also Greenbrier Farm, a garden off Shattalon, and more.  They are simply stunning!  Whether you’re an avid gardener or just like to dream of what could be, you will be inspired.  Another bonus is that it is a self guided tour, so you can go to any garden, in any order, at any time between 10:30-4:30 that day, rain or shine.

Join me in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s Week of Giving!!

Have you heard???  Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center is having its VERY FIRST Week of Giving!!  As I have mentioned many times both of my boys have benefitted from the amazing doctors and staff at Brenner Children’s Hospital.  I’ve signed up to become an Ambassador and I hope you will either sign up or donate this week!!

2015-05-12 20.04.03

This five-day social media fundraising event encourages everyone—individuals, businesses, community partners, students and alumni and faculty and staff—to celebrate and support Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.  You can sign up to become an Ambassador,  sharing your story of the Medical Center’s impact and the difference philanthropy—at all levels—made on your life. The hope is that your social network will start to understand the role WFBMC play in our community and beyond, hopefully they  will catch the spirit and choose to participate either with a donation or by becoming ambassadors themselves.

I hope you’ll join me this week in the Week of Giving!!

Yummy!! Yummy!! Get to the Krispy Kreme in Clemmons….

During the week I travel the same five miles everyday.   I don’t venture off my beaten path.  I have made an exception… a great, tasty exception.  The new Krispy Kreme in Clemmons.

A couple of weeks ago I went to a blogger event and was so impressed. We’ve always been big Krispy Kreme fans in our home, but this was exciting and new. I was blown away by the new concept shop, and am recommending it as a place to go with your kids.

Dashing Fave … Kerry Steele Art

Last Sunday I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a post by artist, Kerry Steele.  At October 2015 HPMKT she had displayed her art at the CR Laine showroom and I started following her.  I was instantly drawn to her art from the get go, and now that I’ve seen some of her past commissions I know why!  Her paintings add joy to each room they are hung in. They are light and feminine.

She is from Fredericksburg, VA, but will soon be moving to Charleston, SC.  She has a wide selection of art via her ETSY shop and her website.

I am taken by her use of color and  her feminine silhouettes.

I thought I would share a few of my faves with you.

It’s 2016 lets get down to business…

I’m not going to lie… I was ready for the boys and Bain to make their way back to school and work today.  I had work to do.  I am doing a “detox” this January.  After all the fun foods and drinks from the holidays, it seemed appropriate.  Don’t worry its nothing goop serious but I am taking a few steps to TRY to be a little healthier this year.

  1. Starting my morning with hot water and lemon.  Many of you know that I love my coffee first thing in the morning but I keep reading about all of the benefits of beginning my day with hot water and lemon.  I mean who doesn’t want a little detox every morning??

2. Whole Foods Detox (Disclaimer… this is from last year and I never finished it)  I swear I’m WAY more motivated this year

2016-01-02 17.31.50-2

3. Not drinking on school nights… Well really this is Sunday through Wednesday and then only one of the other three days.  Going cold turkey seemed improbable.

4. Doing this with my friend Julie.  That way I’m responsible for my actions and she knows if I’m cheating or not!!

{this picture is from 2007… Amazing!!}

5. Juicing… I don’t know if its just mental but when I have a cold pressed juice I feel better.

6. Drink more WATER!!!

7. Keep up the exercising

So tell me what are you doing this year to get healthier??  I’d love to know!!
